Blur Tool

1.      Open an image in Photoshop – I chose a cat sitting in flowers
Picture
2.      Find the Blur Tool on the Tools Panel, Click on it

3.      The size of the Blur Tool can be changed depending on the size of the area that you would like to blur – Options Bar

4.      Click and drag the mouse over the area you would like to blur

o   The more you move the mouse around on a certain area, the blurrier it gets

o   Too much blur in one spot can make the area unrecognizable

**The blur tool can be used to blur the parts of an image that are not wanting to be focused on

*This makes other parts that are not blurred be attention-catching

5.      I want to blur the flowers so that the cat is focused on – size 30 (large areas)

6.      For blurring the small parts of the flowers in my image I need to use a smaller size tool – 10

Sharpen Tool

1.      Open an image in Photoshop – I chose a cat sitting in flowers

Picture
2.      Find the Sharpen Tool on the Tools Panel, Click on it

3.      Click and drag on the area that you would like to sharpen

*The Sharpen Tool does not necessarily make an image unblurry; it more-as brightens the pixels and makes the pixels more defined

4.      I am going to sharpen the flowers to make them brighter to bring out the color

o   Too much sharpening in one area can make the area look like a bad resolution

Picture
o   To get rid of the excessive sharpening, I blurred the flowers just a little and resharpened the edges
